Global L-band vegetation volume fraction estimates for modeling vegetation optical depth
2021
The attenuation of microwave emissions through the canopy is quantified by the vegetation optical depth (VOD), which is related to the amount of water, the biomass and the structure of vegetation. To provide microwave-derived plant water estimates, one must account for biomass/structure contributions in order to extract the water component from the VOD. This study uses Aquarius scatterometer data to build an L-band global seasonality of vegetation volume fraction (d), representative of biomass/structure dynamics. The dynamic range of d is adapted for its application in a gravimetric moisture (Mg) retrieval model. Results show that d ranging from 0 to 3.35.10- 4 is needed for modelling physi…
GIGJ: a crustal gravity model of the Guangdong Province for predicting the geoneutrino signal at the JUNO experiment
2019
Gravimetric methods are expected to play a decisive role in geophysical modeling of the regional crustal structure applied to geoneutrino studies. GIGJ (GOCE Inversion for Geoneutrinos at JUNO) is a 3D numerical model constituted by ~46 x 10$^{3}$ voxels of 50 x 50 x 0.1 km, built by inverting gravimetric data over the 6{\deg} x 4{\deg} area centered at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) experiment, currently under construction in the Guangdong Province (China). The a-priori modeling is based on the adoption of deep seismic sounding profiles, receiver functions, teleseismic P-wave velocity models and Moho depth maps, according to their own accuracy and spatial resolution. …
The anion impact on the self-assembly of naphthalene diimide diimidazolium salts
2017
Naphthalene diimide diimidazolium salts differing in the anion nature were synthesized and their properties as well as their self-assembly behaviour were investigated. In particular, we took into consideration the N,N′-bis-(1-octyl-3-propylimidazolium)-naphthalene diimide cations and anions differing in size, shape and coordination abilities like [I−], [BF4−] and [NTf2−]. After determination of thermal behaviour, using differential scanning calorimetry and thermal gravimetric analysis, the electrochemical stability and redox properties were assessed using cyclic voltammetry. The self-assembly behaviour of the salts was investigated using concentration and temperature-dependent spectroscopic…
Nitrous oxide fluxes from permafrost regions
2020
This dataset is a synthesis of published nitrous oxide (N2O) fluxes from permafrost-affected soils in Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine permafrost regions. The data includes mean N2O flux rates measured under field (in situ) conditions and in intact plant-soil systems (mesocosms) under near-field conditions. The dataset further includes explanatory environmental parameters such as meteorological data, soil physical-chemical properties, as well as site and experimental information. Data has been synthesized from published studies (see 'Further details'), and in some cases the authors of published studies have been contacted for additional site-level information. The dataset includes studies publ…
